Happy New Year to everyone.
My name is Chisato Tateno, 2025 Miss SAKE Japan.
I would like to respectfully extend my New Year’s greetings and sincerely wish that this year brings you hope, prosperity, and many moments of fulfillment.
Over the past year, through a wide range of activities both in Japan and abroad, We have been deeply grateful to receive such warm support and encouragement from everyone involved in the world of sake. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to you all.
In recent years, the environment surrounding sake has entered a period of significant transition. Rising costs for sake-brewing rice and other raw materials, along with increasing expenses for bottles, labels, and logistics, have placed many breweries in difficult positions, often forcing them to make challenging decisions. At the same time, however, the growing number of international visitors to Japan and the rising global popularity of Japanese cuisine have opened new markets for sake overseas. In this context, efforts to share sake culture with a broader audience are becoming a strong tailwind for the future of sake.
It is precisely in times like these that we, as Miss SAKE, feel a renewed sense of mission. Sake is not merely a beverage; it is the crystallization of Japanese culture—born from the richness of the four seasons, sustained by generations of craftsmanship, and shaped by traditional arts and regional heritage. We believe it is our role to convey this value to people both in Japan and around the world.
As 2025 Miss SAKE Japan, I hope to continue serving as a bridge that conveys the stories and passions of those involved in rice cultivation, the unique climate and traditions of each region, and the values that will be passed on to future generations—all embodied in a single cup of sake. This year, as we pass the baton to the next generation of Miss SAKE, I am committed to further expanding the circle of cultural exchange through sake.
In the year ahead, I will continue to walk alongside everyone involved in sake, dedicating myself wholeheartedly to sharing the beauty of Japanese culture and carrying it forward into the future.
I sincerely appreciate your continued support and guidance, and I wish you good health, happiness, and success throughout the year.
Chisato Tateno
