Hello everyone,
I’m Chisato Tateno, 2025 Miss SAKE Japan.
On Thursday, December 4th, at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba in Minato City, Tokyo, I had the pleasure of serving Japanese sake to guests at the Showa 100 Last Year Charity Party “Super! SHOWA”, together with 2025 Miss SAKE Japan Runner-Up, Kana Hazuma.
About the Showa 100 Last Year Charity Party “Super! SHOWA”
The event was held under the theme, “Super! Showa – Let’s go beyond the excitement of those days.” Bringing together leaders and creators from the Bubble Era—who once energized Japan—the event celebrated the closing of “Showa 100” and presented new lifestyle ideas for the “100-year life” generation.
The program opened with live band performances and talk shows by entrepreneurs from the Showa generation, filling the venue with energy and a strong sense of unity. The excitement continued as special guests, including Neo☆Stars, took the stage, leading into a one-night-only Special Disco Night by DJ OSSHY. The night connected the heat of the Showa era with the spirit of Reiwa through music, dance, fashion, and conversation—an event truly unique in its concept and execution.

Sharing the Ever-Loved Taste of Japanese Sake
At the Miss SAKE Japan booth, we served a selection of Japanese sake to visitors. We spoke with many guests about their preferences, allowing them to compare different flavor profiles—from elegant and floral to rich and full-bodied—and to enjoy how temperature changes (chilled vs. warmed) transform the taste.
Many visitors were also interested in the activities of Miss SAKE, giving us an opportunity to share our work across fields such as sake, agriculture, and traditional culture. It was a warm and meaningful time, sharing conversations and the beauty of Japanese sake.
Sake Served at the Event
Chiyomusubi Junmai Gōriki 60 (Chiyomusubi Shuzo / Tottori)
Brewed with Tottori’s local sake rice “Gōriki,” polished to 60%. Low-temperature aging brings out the rice’s unique character, offering rich umami balanced with distinctive acidity across a wide range of temperatures.
Katanosakura THEORY 01 Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu – Direct Press (Yamano Shuzo / Osaka)
The first release under the “Katanosakura” brand, created through the challenge of a young brewery owner and toji. Made with Omachi rice polished to 55%, bottled without dilution and direct-pressed for fresh, fruity umami and lively acidity.
Kiwami Hijiri Junmai Ginjo “RENCONTRE” (Miyashita Shuzo / Okayama)
A special junmai ginjo created by Miss SAKE Okayama 2024 members, who participated from rice cultivation to label design. True to its name “RENCONTRE” (“encounter”), the sake embodies new connections. Made with Yamada Nishiki, it offers wine-like fruity aromas that shine in a wine glass.
Temahima Daiginjo Yukimegami (Rokkasen / Yamagata)
A daiginjo brewed using 100% Yamagata’s premium sake rice “Yukimegami.” It features elegant aromas and a silky mouthfeel with refined craftsmanship evident in every sip.
Junmai Ginjo Tochiakane – Strawberry Yeast Fermentation (Shiraso Shuzo / Tochigi)
Brewed with the brewery’s own Tochigi rice “Nasu Hikari” and fermented with strawberry yeast, giving it strawberry-like acidity and robust umami. Enjoyable both chilled and gently warmed.
The Radiance of Showa-Era Stars
At the start of the event, talent Hikomaro introduced our booth during the live venue broadcast, giving us an opportunity to share the mission of Miss SAKE and our sake offerings with attendees.
We also had the pleasure of taking commemorative photos with many guests, including Ms. Ikuko Fuchi, President & CEO of Mam Project Co., Ltd., the event’s organizer. Showa-era stars such as Antoki no Inoki also stopped by our booth, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere throughout the evening.
Amid the excitement and music, we were able to share the joy and beauty of Japanese sake with many visitors.
Through the Showa 100 Last Year Charity Party “Super! SHOWA”, I was once again reminded of the power of culture to connect people across generations and eras.
Seeing iconic figures of the Showa era unite the venue through music, dance, and fashion—and experiencing how Japanese sake naturally complemented that moment—was truly inspiring.
As Miss SAKE, I will continue deepening my knowledge and experiences so that I may share sake not merely as a beverage, but as a bridge that connects people and culture.
Treasuring the meaningful connections made through this event, I will keep promoting the charm of Japanese sake both in Japan and abroad, striving to grow as a communicator befitting a new era.
