季節が移ろいゆく中、私は2月20日に『在フィリピン日本国大使館主催 天皇誕生日祝賀レセプション』に出席するため、フィリピン・マニラを訪れました。その際、フィリピン国内で高品質なアルコール飲料を取り扱うRalph’s Wines & Spirits様を訪問し、日本酒がフィリピンの地でどのように受け入れられているのかを深く知る貴重な機会となりました。
Ralph’s Wines & Spiritsの魅力
Ralph’s Wines & Spirits様は、フィリピン国内に15店舗を構え、世界各国のワイン、日本酒、ビール、ウィスキー、スピリッツを幅広く取り扱う専門店です。一部の店舗では、お酒と料理のペアリングを楽しむ空間も設けられ、アルコール文化の発展に貢献されていらっしゃいます。
今回の訪問には、滞在中に大変お世話になった丸紅フィリピン会社 社長 下田茂様とご一緒させていただきました。また、Ralph’s Wines & Spirits様のRaymond様との対話を通じ、日本酒にかける想いの深さを改めて実感いたしました。
日本酒に注ぐ情熱
Raymond様は、日本文化に対する深い理解を持ち、日本酒への並々ならぬ情熱を注がれている方です。日本の酒蔵で実際に酒造りを経験されたこともあり、その豊富な知識と熱心な探求心には大いに感銘を受けました。
さらに、Ralph’s Wines & Spirits様は、昨年よりフィリピン最大の日本酒イベント「SAKE MANILA」の主催を担い、日本酒の魅力をより多くの方に伝える役割を果たされています。このイベントでは、200種類以上の日本酒が提供されるだけでなく、酒蔵の方々と直接交流し、日本酒の奥深い世界を学ぶことができます。

このイベントは、単なる試飲会ではなく、日本酒に込められた歴史や文化、造り手の想いを体感できる特別な場となります。フィリピンの方々が、日本酒を通じて日本の伝統に触れる瞬間を生み出す、大変意義深い取り組みです。
今回、私はこのイベントの告知動画を撮影させていただきました。多くの方々に日本酒の魅力が届くことを願いながら、その魅力を伝える役割を果たしたいと思っております。

Ralph’s Wines & Spirits Visit
Hello everyone, my name is Yuri Minami, the 2024 Miss SAKE Japan.
As the seasons are changing, I visited Manila, Philippines on February 20 to attend the “Emperor’s Birthday Celebration Reception hosted by the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines”. During my visit, I visited Ralph’s Wines & Spirits, which deals in high quality alcoholic beverages in the Philippines, and had a valuable opportunity to learn more about how Japanese sake is accepted in the Philippines.
The Appeal of Ralph’s Wines & Spirits
Ralph’s Wines & Spirits has 15 stores in the Philippines, specializing in a wide range of wines, sake, beer, whiskey, and spirits from around the world. Some of the stores also offer space for customers to enjoy pairing sake and food, contributing to the development of alcohol culture.
I was accompanied on this visit by Mr. Shigeru Shimoda, President of Marubeni Philippines Corporation, who was very kind to me during my stay. Through our conversation with Mr. Raymond of Ralph’s Wines & Spirits, we were also reminded of the depth of his passion for sake.
Passion for Sake
Mr. Raymond has a deep knowledge of Japanese culture and a strong passion for sake. Having experienced sake brewing in a Japanese sake brewery, his knowledge and enthusiasm were remarkable.
Furthermore, Ralph’s Wines & Spirits has been playing an important role in promoting the appeal of sake to a wider audience by hosting the Philippines’ largest sake event, “SAKE MANILA,” since last year. The event will not only offer more than 200 varieties of sake, but also provide an opportunity to interact directly with sake brewers and learn more about the profound world of sake.

SAKE MANILA will be held again this year.

This event will be more than just a sake tasting event; it will be a special place where visitors can experience the history, culture, and thoughts of the sake brewers. This is a very meaningful initiative to create a moment for Filipinos to experience the traditions of Japan through sake.
I also had the opportunity to shoot a video announcing this event. I would like to play my role in conveying the appeal of sake to as many people as possible.
Toward the Future
Sake is not just a beverage, it is a culture that is filled with skill, history, and the feelings of its people. It is a great pleasure for us to be able to bring the charm of sake to more people in the Philippines.
