Speciality Fine Food Fair 2024に参加いたしました。 *English follows
こんにちは。2024 Miss SAKE 準グランプリ 宮澤麗です。
2024年9月10日〜9月11日の2日間、イギリスのロンドンにてSpeciality Fine Food Fair 2024が開催されました。
Speciality Fine Food Fairは世界中から飲料食料品が集まる展示会です。
アルコール類やパスタ、ジェラート、チョコレート等々沢山の「美味しい」に出会うことができます。
国税庁様が主体となり、SAKE & SPIRITS OF JAPANという日本産酒類のブースを設け、日本酒のみならずウイスキーや焼酎、梅酒等のブースがございました。
私は、長野県薄井商店の門天ブースで日本酒のPRをさせていただきました。
味わいがしっかりめの日本酒が好まれる傾向にあるように感じました。特に複雑な味わいの生酛、芳醇な旨味のある吟醸酒が人気だったように感じます。
今回は日本酒そのもののご紹介に加え、チーズやキャビア、生ハムといった海外でも一般的に食されているものとのペアリングについてもお話させていただきました。日本酒とペアリングすることのメリットとして私が特に感じているのは旨味の補完と臭みの排除です。日本酒とペアリングすることで、食品の良い部分が引き立たように感じます。「うちの商品とこの日本酒はベストマッチだよ！」と、国を超えてディスカッション、意見をシェアした時間は大変思い出深いです。

Participated in Speciality Fine Food Fair 2024
Hi, I’m Urara Miyazawa, 2024 Miss SAKE Runnerup.
Speciality Fine Food Fair was held in London, England from September 10 to 11, 2024. You can find many “delicacies” such as alcohol, pasta, gelato, chocolates, and so on.
The National Tax Administration Agency of Japan set up a booth called SAKE & Spirits of Japan for Japanese alcoholic beverages, including not only sake, but also whiskey, shochu, plum wine, and more!
I had the opportunity to promote sake at the Monten booth of Usui Shoten in Nagano Prefecture. I felt that people tended to prefer sake with a strong flavor. In particular, I felt that sake with a complex flavor, such as sake made from the traditional sake yeast and mellow ginjo-shu, were popular.
In addition to introducing sake itself, we also talked about pairing sake with cheese, caviar, cured ham, and other foods that are commonly consumed overseas. What I particularly feel are the benefits of pairing sake with other foods are the complementation of umami and the elimination of odor. I feel that pairing with sake brings out the best in the food. I have had discussions and opinions from across the country, saying, “Our product and this sake are a perfect match!” I have very fond memories of the time we spent discussing and sharing opinions across national borders.
