Hello everyone, this is Chisato Tateno, 2025 Miss SAKE Japan.
On Friday, September 19, I had the honor of joining the Tokyo PN Gathering, a cross-sector networking event for leaders from both the public and private sectors, together with Yūri Minami, 2024 Miss SAKE Japan. We introduced the appeal of sake as well as the mission and activities of Miss SAKE to professionals from various industries.
About the Tokyo PN Gathering
The Tokyo PN Gathering is a long-standing networking forum that has been held for more than 30 years, originally founded under the leadership of the late Mr. Tokuo Yamashita. It brings together participants across industries such as transportation, logistics, and media, fostering meaningful connections and mutual exchange beyond professional boundaries.
On this occasion, we were kindly invited by Ms. Yoshie Hiraide—CEO of Co-op SACHI Ltd., Advisor to Miss SAKE, and the only female organizer of the gathering—which gave us the opportunity to participate as Miss SAKE representatives.
A Toast with Distinguished Sake
Following the opening remarks and a celebratory toast, the evening began with Urakasumi No.12 Sparkling Silver Label from the renowned brewery Saura Co., Ltd. (Miyagi Prefecture). Its fruity aroma, balanced acidity, and delicate effervescence made it a truly special first glass. In addition, thanks to the generous support of sake breweries closely connected with Miss SAKE, guests were able to enjoy a selection of exceptional sakes:
Masuda Tokubee Shoten (Kyoto) – Tsuki no Katsura Junmai Daiginjo Nigorizake
Masuda Shuzoten (Toyama) – Masuizumi Junmai Ginjo
Dewazakura Sake Brewery (Yamagata) – Dewazakura Junmai Daiginjo Ichiro
Miss SAKE’s Broad Activities and New Initiatives
Later in the evening, we were given the valuable opportunity to present the activities of Miss SAKE, the learnings of the Nadeshiko Program, and our most recent initiatives. Using slides, we shared how Miss SAKE’s mission extends far beyond sake, encompassing traditional culture, cuisine, agriculture, and health, both in Japan and overseas.
Among our recent initiatives, Ms. Minami introduced her work as host of an online concert program for senior care facilities and her involvement at the Women’s Health Booth for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. I shared my experience of leading a handmade amazake workshop in Romania. Toward the end, Ms. Minami captivated the audience with a live performance of “Gomen ne…(by Mariko Takahashi)” , which concluded with resounding applause and cheers.
Guests warmly expressed their impressions, saying, “I never realized Miss SAKE engaged in such a wide range of activities,” and “I was impressed by the unique educational program, unlike typical beauty contests.” All of these words truly encouraged us.

Through this participation in the Tokyo PN Gathering, I was reminded once again that sake is not merely a beverage—it is a cultural bridge that connects people, sharing values and traditions across communities. Meeting distinguished professionals from various sectors provided me with invaluable inspiration and learning.
As Miss SAKE, I will continue to carry forward the traditions and wisdom passed down through generations, while embracing the responsibility of sharing Japan’s culture with the world. Cherishing the connections and insights gained on this occasion, I am determined to further serve as a “bridge of cultural exchange through sake” that transcends borders and generations.
