2024年11月9日、晴天の秋空の下、福生蔵開きが開催され、田村酒造場様会場に2024 Miss SAKE鹿児島の長友さんと参加させていただきました。「福生蔵開き」は福生市の魅力を伝えることを目的とし、福生市にある二つの酒蔵である田村酒造場様と石川酒造様が合同で行うイベントです。
新酒披露や地域の特産品販売、歴史のある酒蔵、神事見学等、日本酒文化と地域の結びつきを肌で感じることのできる大変貴重な機会でした。
＜田村酒造場様の歴史と特徴＞
1822年（文政5年）に創業し、200年以上の歴史を誇る老舗の酒蔵です。代表的な銘柄「嘉泉（かせん）」は、酒蔵内で見つかった豊かな湧水にちなんで名付けられ、今も仕込み水として秩父奥多摩の伏流水が使われており、日本酒の味わいをさらに豊かにしています。
蔵内の象徴的で美しい八角形の煉瓦煙突は歴史を感じさせ、大変珍しく文化遺産としても認められるほどの存在感を持っています。
当日はイベント開始前から多くの方が開場を心待ちにされており、入場開始時から大変な賑わいでした。
まずは新酒の完成を祝う象徴として酒林（杉玉）の取り替えが行われました。酒林の取り替えの瞬間に立ち会わせていただくことは初めてでしたので会場の皆様と緊張しながら見守らせていただきました。鮮やかな緑色の大きな酒林が取り付けられた瞬間に歓声とともに今年の新酒を会場一体となってお祝い致しました。
鏡開きでは、田村社長とのじゃんけん大会で勝ち抜いた方が木槌を持ち参加できるというユニークな演出があり、こちらも大変盛り上がっておりました。鏡開きの後には私たちMiss SAKEが振る舞い酒をさせていただき、多くの来場者の方が今年の新酒の豊かな味わいを楽しんでいらっしゃいました。蔵人の皆様が心を込めて醸された今年一番の日本酒を、会場の方々と一緒に乾杯させていただけたのは大変印象深く感謝と嬉しさに溢れる瞬間でした。
酒造りの成功と安全を祈願する神事も開催され、緊張感が漂う中、厳かな雰囲気を体感できるひとときでした。
大変迫力のある福生市の伝統的な樽神輿の練り歩きとお囃子の演奏は、地域の歴史と文化、酒蔵の融合を感じることができ、多くの来場者が引き込まれていました。
蔵開きに初めて参加された海外からの方も、日本酒とともに地域の伝統文化に触れることができるこちらの会に参加することができて本当に良かった、印象に残る日本での想い出となる、と参加できたことにとても喜んでいらっしゃいました。
田村酒造場様の法被や前掛けを着用し樽酒の前で記念撮影をすることもでき、普段着る機会のない酒蔵様の法被と前掛け着用に、お子さまも含め国内外からの参加者みなさんが大変嬉しそうにされていたことも印象的でした。
本イベントは、新酒の完成を祝い、日本酒の魅力を伝えるとともに、地域との温かいつながりを再認識することのできる素晴らしいイベントでした。
伝統的な行事と、訪れた人々が楽しみながら参加できる工夫も随所に施されており、来場者全員が福生の魅力、その土地に根付く日本酒文化を心から楽しんでいらっしゃいました。今年参加が叶わなかった方々は、ぜひ来年ご参加されてみてはいかがでしょうか。
今後も更に多くの方に日本と日本酒について興味を持っていただけるよう、地域の魅力と日本酒文化について引き続き発信して参ります。

Fussa Brewery Opening Event
The event aims to highlight the charm of Fussa City, featuring collaboration between two local breweries, Tamura Shuzojo and Ishikawa Shuzo. This annual celebration offers a rare opportunity to experience the deep connection between Japanese sake culture and the local community through activities such as unveiling new sake, showcasing regional specialties, exploring historic breweries, and Shinto religious ceremonies.
History and Features of Tamura Shuzojo
Tamura Shuzojo has over 200 years of history. Its flagship brand, “Kasen” is named after the abundant spring water discovered on-site, which is still used today as brewing water. The brewery’s iconic octagonal brick chimney, a historical and cultural asset, adds to its uniqueness and historical value.
Highlights of the Event
The event began with the symbolic replacement of the “sugitama” to celebrate the brewing of new sake. Witnessing this for the first time was a shared special moment among attendees and uniting everyone in celebrating the year’s new sake.
Following the kagami-biraki (sake cask opening) visitors relished the rich flavors of the year’s first batch.
The event also included a solemn Shinto ceremony to pray for the safety and success of the brewing.
The powerful parade of traditional Fussa barrel mikoshi and the spirited performances of local festival music added an extra layer of cultural richness, captivating both locals and international visitors. Many overseas attendees expressed their joy at being able to connect with both Japanese sake and the region’s traditional culture, calling the event an unforgettable highlight of their visit to Japan.
Attendees had the chance to don Tamura Brewery’s traditional happi coats for photos in front of sake barrels. The rare opportunity to wear these iconic garments delighted participants of all ages, from children to international guests.
A Celebration of Sake and Community
This event was a precious event for celebration of new sake, Japanese sake culture, and the warm connections within the local community. Traditional rituals were seamlessly integrated with visitor-friendly activities, ensuring everyone could fully appreciate the charm of Fussa and its deeply rooted sake culture. For those who missed this year’s event, participating next year is highly recommended.
