I’m Chisato Tateno, 2025 Miss SAKE Japan. On Tuesday, October 7, I had the honor of attending the Opening Ceremony Reception of “JAPAN PACK 2025”, hosted by the Japan Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (JPMMA), held at Tokyo Big Sight.
About “JAPAN PACK 2025”
JAPAN PACK 2025 was held over four days, from October 7 (Tue) to October 10 (Fri), 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight East Halls 4–8.
It is one of Japan’s largest exhibitions dedicated to the packaging industry, which supports a wide range of sectors including food, pharmaceuticals, and daily consumer goods. At the venue, numerous cutting-edge technologies and solutions were showcased, addressing key challenges faced by the industry such as production efficiency, labor shortages, environmental sustainability, and supply chain optimization.
Under the main theme “BEYOND | Creating the Future through Packaging,” the exhibition explored two major perspectives — “Packaging × DX (Digital Transformation)” and “Packaging × GX (Green Transformation)” — highlighting how packaging and technology merge to create new value for society.
Over 550 leading companies and organizations from Japan and abroad exhibited during the event, presenting the latest innovations in products, technologies, and services. More than 90 special programs, including seminars, keynote sessions, and interactive tours, also took place, attracting a large and enthusiastic audience. It was a meaningful exhibition that reaffirmed the social importance of packaging while inspiring hope for a more sustainable future.
The Global Potential of “Culture of Wrapping”
Since the inaugural year of Miss SAKE, the Miss SAKE Organization has had the honor of maintaining a long-standing relationship with the Japan Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (JPMMA). This year, I was deeply grateful to be invited to attend the Opening Ceremony Reception held on the first day of the exhibition.
Following the opening remarks by Mr. Takuhiro Adachi, Chairperson of the Exhibition Executive Committee, I had the privilege of taking the stage as Miss SAKE Japan 2025 and delivering a short address to more than 300 distinguished guests in attendance. In my remarks, I shared the mission of Miss SAKE and offered my congratulations for the success of JAPAN PACK 2025.
In celebration, since I am originally from Hokkaido, the organizers kindly prepared “Tokubetsu Junmai Taisetsunokura” from Godo Shusei Co., Ltd. (Hokkaido) for the toast, allowing everyone to enjoy a glass of sake together.
After the ceremony, I toured the venue, meeting participants not only from across Japan but also from around the world — including Korea, Taiwan, China, and Italy — and had the pleasure of engaging in conversation and taking photos with them. Later, during the networking reception, I was honored to share the appeal of Japanese sake and Japanese culture with leading figures from different countries, beyond borders and languages.
Since ancient times, Japan has cherished the art of “wrapping” (tsutsumu) — not merely as an act of covering an object, but as an expression of thoughtfulness and connection. It embodies the essence of the Japanese spirit toward others.
At JAPAN PACK 2025, as someone who humbly contributes to sharing Japanese culture with the world, I was deeply moved to witness how this timeless spirit of “wrapping” is merging with cutting-edge technology and sustainability ideals, evolving toward the future.
I am truly honored to have been able to participate, as Miss SAKE, in an event that celebrates the growth of the packaging industry, which supports people, communities, and the future itself.
With great respect for Japan’s technological excellence and cultural heritage, I will continue my mission as Miss SAKE — serving as a bridge that connects tradition and innovation, and sharing Japan’s beauty with the world.
