春の訪れを感じる「うりずん」の季節、草花が芽吹き、風が心地よくなるこの時期に、沖縄国際通りで開催された日本酒ティスティングイベント「OKINAWA JACK」に参加させていただきました。
＜和醸和楽について＞
和醸和楽さまは、「手造りの日本酒文化を伝承・育成・発信し、わが国の食文化の発展に寄与すること」を理念とし、「0杯を1杯にする活動」を掲げて、日本酒をまだ飲んだことのない方へ“最初の一杯”を届ける取り組みを全国で行っておられます。

＜OKINAWA JACKについて＞
「OKINAWA JACK」は、その「0杯を1杯にする活動」の一環として開催された、日本酒ティスティングイベントです。
チケットは気軽に参加できる2枚綴りから用意され、初めて日本酒に触れる外国人観光客や若年層にも楽しんでいただける内容となっていました。
オープン前から日本酒ファンの皆さまが列を作り、沖縄ではなかなか味わう機会の少ない銘酒を楽しみにしている様子が印象的でした。日本酒愛好家の方々は、珍しい銘柄を片手に閉幕までじっくりと堪能されていました。
＜当日の私の活動＞
私は、外国からのお客様へ英語や韓国語で対応を行い、受付、日本酒の紹介、酒蔵や酒販店さまとの通訳などを担当いたしました。
特に印象的だったのは、日本酒を初めて口にするという沖縄在住の外国人の方々とお話ししながら、どんな味わいがお好みかをヒアリングし、酒販店さんや酒蔵さんと連携してその方にぴったりの一杯をご案内できたことです。
「初めての日本酒、美味しい！」と笑顔を浮かべる方の姿に、私自身もとても嬉しい気持ちになりました。
また、「次のイベントも参加したい！」という声もいただき、日本酒の魅力が確実に広がっていることを実感しました。
＜沖縄で「0杯を1杯に」＞
沖縄では、地元のお酒として泡盛が根付いており、特に若い世代の中には日本酒を飲んだことがない方も多くいます。
その中で今回のような機会を通して、“0杯を1杯に”という活動に参加できたことを、とても光栄に思います。
このような素晴らしいイベントに参加させていただき、心より感謝申し上げます。
これからも、沖縄から日本酒の魅力をしっかりと伝え、広げていけるよう努めてまいります。

I had the honor of participating in “OKINAWA JACK,” a sake tasting event hosted by Wajo Waraku, as 2024 Miss SAKE Okinawa.

As Okinawa welcomed the season of *Urizun*—when the fresh spring breeze flows and nature begins to bloom—I had the pleasure of joining the “OKINAWA JACK” event held right on the vibrant and bustling Kokusai Street.

About OKINAWA JACK
“OKINAWA JACK” was held as part of Wajo Waraku’s “From Zero to One Cup” initiative.
Tickets started from just two tastings, making it accessible for first-time sake drinkers—especially foreign tourists and Gen Z visitors.
Even before the event officially began, a line of enthusiastic sake fans had already formed. Many of them were eager to taste rare and unique sake labels that are hard to find in Okinawa. Throughout the day, sake enthusiasts savored these special selections all the way to the end of the event.
My Role at the Event
At the event, I assisted with reception, sake introductions, and interpretation between visitors and sake brewers or retailers, particularly for guests from abroad. I provided support in English and Korean.
One of the most memorable moments for me was helping Okinawa-based foreign visitors who were trying sake for the first time. I heard their flavor preferences and worked with brewers and retailers to find a perfect first sake for them. Seeing their smiles after tasting that first cup was truly rewarding.
Many guests also told me, “I’d love to attend the next event too!”—a clear sign that the charm of sake is spreading.
Promoting “From Zero to One Cup” in Okinawa
In Okinawa, awamori is traditionally more common than sake, and there are still many young people who have never tried sake. That’s why I feel incredibly honored to have taken part in an initiative that helps introduce that very first cup.
I am deeply grateful to have been part of such a meaningful and inspiring event.
Going forward, I will continue sharing the beauty of Japanese sake from right here in Okinawa.
