アジア最大級の日本酒コンクール「Oriental Sake Awards」   

皆さま、こんにちは。2026 Miss SAKE 沖縄　亀谷莉瑚です。

2026年8月18日〜21日にかけて、アジア最大級の日本酒コンクール「Oriental Sake Awards 2026」が開催されました。

今年で5回目を迎える「Oriental Sake Awards（OSA）」は、香港で毎年開催されているアジア最大級の日本酒コンクールです。

在香港日本総領事館、JETRO香港、香港日本料理店協会の後援のもと開催され、世界有数の日本酒市場である香港に、国内外から多くの日本酒が集まります。

今年は600商品以上が出品され、OSAにおける過去最大規模のコンテストとなりました。

世界の専門家による公平な審査

今回の審査員長を務められたのは、香港日本酒業連合会会長であり、サケ・サムライとしてもご活躍されているMicky Chan様、日本酒輸出協会会長の松崎晴雄様、日本酒造組合中央会理事の宇都宮仁様、沼田まどか様

そして国内外で日本酒に深い知識と経験を持つ専門家の皆様が審査を担当されました。

今回、特別にOSAの審査員の皆様による審査の様子を見学させていただく、貴重な機会をいただきました。

実際に審査員の皆様が日本酒をテイスティングし、一つひとつのお酒について意見を交わされる姿を間近で拝見し、とても刺激を受けました。

特に印象的だったのは、同じ一つの日本酒に対しても、「香り」「味わい」「余韻」などを、さまざまな言葉や表現で丁寧に伝え合っていたことです。

私自身、これまで日本酒を飲んで感じたことを言葉にする難しさを感じることがありました。

しかし、専門家の皆様の豊かな表現や着眼点に触れ、日本酒をより深く知るためには、味わうだけでなく、その魅力を自分の言葉で表現する力も大切なのだと学びました。

今回の見学は、私にとって大変貴重な学びの機会となりました。審査体験にご協力頂きました市島様含めテーブルで一緒になった審査員の方々に感謝です！

いつか私自身も日本酒についてさらに知識と経験を積み重ね、OSAのような素晴らしい舞台で審査員として携われるよう、これからも学び続けていきたいと思います。

 

Miss SAKEブースで日本のお酒の魅力を発信

今回のOSAは、Miss SAKE Hong Kong Macauも後援として応援しました。

そのご縁でOSAのB2C向けアフターイベント「Sake Festival」にてMiss SAKEブースも設けていただき、クラフト酒や日本の「國酒」である泡盛をご紹介する機会をいただきました。

また、このブースでは、Miss SAKEがこれまで行ってきた活動や、そもそも「Miss SAKEとはどのような存在なのか」についても、皆様にご紹介することができました。

ブースにはたくさんの方が足を運んでくださり、皆様と直接交流しながら、日本のお酒についてお話しすることができました。

特に印象に残ったのは、香港の皆様の日本のお酒に対する熱量の高さです。

会話の中では、さまざまな酒蔵の名前や銘柄が次々と出てきて、日本酒について詳しくお話ししてくださる方も多くいらっしゃいました。

中には、私よりも日本酒について詳しいのではないかと思うほど、味わいや酒蔵の特徴まで深く知っている方もいらっしゃり、日本酒が国境を越えて愛されていることを改めて実感しました。

また、「この銘柄が好き」「この酒蔵のお酒をよく飲みます」といったお話を直接伺うことができ、日本のお酒が香港の皆様の暮らしや食文化の中にも自然に根付いていることを感じました。

そしてブースには、在香港日本国総領事館 総領事三浦様にもブースへお越しいただき、さらに審査委員長であり、香港日本酒業連合会会長、そして「酒サムライ」でもあるMicky Chan様にもご見学いただきました。

実際にブースへ足を運んでいただき、直接お話しすることができたことも、とても貴重な経験となりました。

香港の皆様の日本のお酒への深い関心と愛情に触れ、日本酒は国境を越え、世界中の方々に愛されている日本文化の一つなのだと、改めて実感しました。

香港から世界へ広がる日本酒

今回OSAに参加し、香港が日本酒にとって重要な海外市場であることを改めて実感しました。

日本各地の酒蔵が生み出す日本酒や、沖縄が誇る泡盛が国境を越えて香港の地で紹介され、多くの方々に楽しまれていることを大変嬉しく感じました。

また、皆様との交流を通して、お酒は人と人との距離を縮め、国や言葉を越えて交流を生み出す素晴らしい文化であることを改めて感じました。

今回いただいた貴重なご縁を大切にし、これからもMiss SAKEとして、日本酒の魅力だけでなく、その背景にある日本文化や酒蔵の想い、そして沖縄が誇る泡盛の魅力を海外へ発信していきたいと思います。

そして、今後も海外の皆様と日本のお酒についてより深くお話しできるよう、自分自身もさらに知識を深め、学び続けていきたいと思います。

 

【English】Oriental Sake Awards — One of Asia’s Largest Sake Competitions

The “Oriental Sake Awards (OSA),” now in its fifth year, is one of the largest sake competitions in Asia, held annually in Hong Kong.

Held with the support of the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, JETRO Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Japanese Restaurants Association, the competition brings together a wide variety of sake from Japan and around the world in Hong Kong, one of the world’s leading overseas markets for Japanese sake.

This year, more than 600 products were entered, making it the largest competition in the history of the OSA.

Fair Judging by Experts from Around the World

At the OSA, sake experts from around the world gather in Hong Kong to conduct fair and impartial blind tastings of sake that has been exported and served at the appropriate temperature.

Since 2024, the OSA has also been selected as one of the competitions evaluated for the “World Sake Brewery Ranking,” which I learned is a sign of how much international attention this sake competition has gained.

Sharing the Appeal of  Japanese sake Beverages at the Miss SAKE Booth

This year, Miss SAKE Hong Kong Macau also supported the OSA as a sponsor.

Through this connection, we were given the opportunity to have a Miss SAKE booth at the “Sake Festival,” the B2C after-event of the OSA, where we introduced craft sake and awamori, Okinawa’s traditional “national spirit” of Japan.

At the booth, we were also able to introduce the activities that Miss SAKE has carried out over the years, as well as explain what Miss SAKE is and what role we play.

Many people visited our booth, and I had the opportunity to interact directly with them and talk about Japanese sake beverages.

What left the strongest impression on me was the passion and enthusiasm that people in Hong Kong have for  Japanese sake beverages.

During our conversations, many people mentioned the names of different breweries and sake brands one after another, and there were also many people who spoke to me in great detail about Japanese sake.

Some people knew so much about the flavors and characteristics of different breweries that I felt they might even know more about sake than I do. It made me truly realize once again how Japanese sake is loved beyond Japan’s borders.

I was also able to hear people say things such as, “This is my favorite brand,” or “I often drink sake from this brewery.” Through these conversations, I felt that  Japanese sake beverages have naturally become a part of the daily lives and food culture of people in Hong Kong.

We were also honored to welcome Consul General Mr. Miura from the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong to our booth.

In addition, Mr. Micky Chan, Chairman of the Judging Committee, President of the Hong Kong Sake Industry Association, and a “Sake Samurai,” also visited our booth.

Having them take the time to visit our booth and being able to speak with them directly was an incredibly valuable experience for me.

Through this experience, I was deeply touched by the strong interest and affection that people in Hong Kong have for Japanese sake beverages.

It reminded me once again that Japanese sake is one of the many aspects of Japanese culture that has crossed borders and is loved by people around the world.

Japanese Sake Spreading from Hong Kong to the World

Through participating in the OSA, I once again realized that Hong Kong is an important international market for Japanese sake.

I was truly happy to see sake created by breweries from all across Japan, as well as awamori, a traditional spirit that Okinawa is proud of, being introduced in Hong Kong and enjoyed by so many people across borders.

Through my interactions with everyone, I was also reminded that  Japanese sake are a wonderful part of culture that can bring people closer together and create connections beyond borders and language.

I will cherish the valuable connections I made through this experience. As Miss SAKE, I hope to continue sharing not only the appeal of Japanese sake, but also the Japanese culture behind it, the passion and stories of sake breweries, and the unique appeal of Okinawa’s awamori with people around the world.

I also hope to deepen my own knowledge and continue learning so that I can have even more meaningful conversations about  Japanese sake with people from around the world in the future.
