秋晴れの陽気が心地よい頃となった10月27日（金）、第1回目の開催となった「Japan Women’s SAKE Award ～美酒コンクール～ 」表彰式・大試飲会に、2023 Miss SAKE 秋田 高橋 凜さんと2023 Miss SAKE 香川 川地 さくらさんと共に参加してまいりました。
ご来場いただいた皆様には、美酒コンクールオリジナルのグラスが配られ、各部門の受賞酒を味わっていただきました。会場となったPASONA SQUAREの17階から見える東京の夜景が、試飲会場の雰囲気をより格別なものとしてくれました。
Japan Women’s SAKE Award～美酒コンクール～（通称：美酒コン）とは
こちらのコンクールは、「日本の伝統文化の継承」「地域経済の活性化」「女性が活躍する社会の実現」を軸に、日本酒を酒類資格を保有する女性審査員の方に審査いただく、日本初のコンクールです。
エントリー部門は特定名称別ではなく、日本酒初心者の方や海外の方にもわかりやすい指標となるよう、香りや味わいを主軸とした６部門が設けられています。
全出品酒より選出される最優秀賞「美酒 of the Year 2023」のほか、各部門内の最優秀賞「TOP OF THE BEST」と美酒コンクールオリジナルの「審査員特別賞」が授与されます。
また、毎年の審査および表彰式は全国各地での開催を予定しており、お酒や食のPRによる地域活性に加え、その地の女性たちにも審査に加わっていただくことで、地方在住の女性活躍の場の拡大も目指していらっしゃいます。
第1回美酒コンクールには、146社より317アイテムが出品されました。
その中より、栄えある「美酒 of the Year 2023」に輝いたのは…
佐賀県小城市・天山酒造様の「天山 純米 全麴仕込み 20年熟成」です。
みたらし団子やカラメルを彷彿とさせる濃厚な香りが特徴のこちらのお酒は、後口に残るほろ苦さが癖になる古酒です。
総合コーディネーターである友田晶子様からの総評では、全体的にリッチでウマミを感じるものや熟成されているお酒の方の評価が高かったこと、なかでも若い世代の審査員の方からの評価が特に高かったことが伝えられました。友田様ご自身、女性審査員のみということからフルーティなお酒や低アルコール酒に人気が集まると予測されていたため、今回の結果が本コンクールを通しての新たな発見だったとおっしゃっていました。

大変有難いことにMiss SAKEの活動を通して日本酒を頂く機会が増え、私自身も日本酒の好みに変化が出てまいりました。日本酒に触れる機会が増えることで、味わいや香りの幅を知ることができました。私も日本酒愛好家の一員として、日本酒に興味を持ってくださった方がご自身の好みにあった日本酒を見つけられるきっかけを作れるよう、引き続き邁進してまいります。
この度は、このような素晴らしいコンクールに参加させていただきありがとうございました。

Hello, everyone.
I’m Hikari Saito, 2023 Miss SAKE Japan runner up.
On October 27, I participated in the 1st Japan Women’s SAKE Award held at PASONA SQUARE.
With the ambassadors from Serbia, Jamaica, the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Republic of Nicaragua who served as award presenters.
Japan Women’s SAKE Award (Also known as: Bishu-kon [美酒コン]) is
the first Sake competition in Japan to be judged by female judges who hold liquor qualifications. In this competition, judging is conducted in six categories, mainly based on aroma and taste. This is rare among sake competitions, since they are often judged based on the traditional classification of sake. The Sake with the highest score will be honored with the “Bishu of the Year 2023” award. (Bishu = Delicious Sake)
Out of 317 items, the winner of the prestigious “Bishu of the Year 2023” is
20 years aged Tenzan Junmai (天山 純米 全麴仕込み 20年熟成) , produced by Tenyama Shuzo Co., Ltd., (Ogi City, Saga Prefecture).
Ms. Akiko Tomoda, the general coordinator, was surprised that sake which have rich taste or aged were highly rated, especially by young judges. She mentioned that this result was a new discovery through this competition, since she predicted that fruity or low-alcohol sake would be popular among the female judges.

The annual judging and award ceremonies are scheduled to be held all over the country. In addition to promoting the place through local alcohol and food, they aim to expand the opportunities for women living in rural areas by inviting them to participate in the judging.
Thankfully, through the activities of Miss SAKE, I have had more opportunities to drink sake, and my own taste of sake has expanded. By having these wonderful opportunities, I was able to understand the variety of tastes, aromas, and ways to enjoy Sake. As a one of the sake lovers, I would like to continue to work on helping people who are interested in sake find the sake that meets their taste.

It was a great honor to be there for the very 1st award.
