2025 Miss SAKE India Contest will be held on April 17th

Hello, everyone.

I am Kotoko Yamada, the 2023 Miss SAKE Japan.

Today, I am delighted to share some exciting news with you through this blog post.

At Miss SAKE, in addition to the Japanese ambassador, Miss SAKE Japan, we appoint local individuals who deeply love Japan and Japanese Sake as Miss SAKE representatives in their respective countries. They introduce the charm of Japan to their home countries. Over the years, many members have joined the Miss SAKE Family worldwide, sharing their passion for Japanese sake and culture.

And now, on April 17th, the 2025 Miss SAKE India competition will be held in India!

Following last year’s 2024 Miss SAKE India competition, we are thrilled to welcome new members into the Miss SAKE Family.

2024 Miss SAKE India Menkhaa Rai

Since being crowned, 2024 Miss SAKE India Menkhaa, has participated in various events featuring Japanese culture and companies. She has shared the charm of Japan in both English and Hindi, directly connecting with local audiences in India.

After her appointment, she attended the 2024 Miss SAKE Final Selection and a Japanese culture training program in Kyoto. She then visited various sake breweries across Japan, always striving to convey her experiences in her own words.

One unforgettable moment for me was attending Prowein Mumbai 2024 together in November. Despite our different nationalities and languages, we stood side by side, introducing the same Japanese sake in our respective languages, bonded by our shared respect and love for Japanese sake.

Meeting Menkhaa and becoming close friends through Japanese sake and culture has been one of the greatest treasures of my Miss SAKE journey.

 

＜About the 2025 Miss SAKE India Contest＞

The 2025 Miss SAKE India competition will take place on April 17th, featuring the following program:

• Opening remarks from the ambassador

• Greeting and introduction to Miss SAKE activities by Mika Onishi, Chairperson of Miss SAKE

• Greetings and a Japanese sake lecture by Kotoko Yamada (2023 Miss SAKE Japan) and Menkhaa (2024 Miss SAKE India)

• Kanpai (cheers) with Japanese sake

• Networking and reception

Additionally, on April 16th, the day before the competition, a special Japanese sake introduction event will be held at the Embassy of Japan in Delhi. We hope this will be a wonderful opportunity for more people in India to discover and appreciate the charm of Japanese sake.

The Power of Sake to Connect People

During last year’s 2024 Miss SAKE India competition, I was deeply moved by the passion and respect for Japan shown by all the local participants.

Sake has the power to connect people beyond borders. Through the bonds formed over sake, I once again realized how delicious sake and beautiful culture bring people together, transcending nationalities.

I am beyond excited to meet more friends from around the world through sake connections (酒縁, shuen) at this year’s competition!
